Created in 2009, TJ's annual Symposium to Advance Research (tjSTAR) is the culmination of the research experience at America's Premier STEM High School. At the event, seniors present the final products of their year-long capstone project conducted in one or more of TJ's thirteen university-level research spaces to their parents and to underclass students. Through witnessing these presentations, the next generation of TJ students learn about the ups and downs of the research process and are better prepared to pursue their own independent work during their senior year.
This year, the TJ Partnership Fund is thrilled to debut the tjSTAR Industry Experience, allowing current and potential Community Partners to attend the event, witness student presentations, tour TJ's unparalleled facilities, and present to TJ's student body at our Industry Fair. As one of our Signature Events, the TJ Partnership Fund is proud to Support TJ's Educational Mission and promote STEM excellence through tjSTAR.

Previous tjSTAR Keynote Addresses have been delivered by founders, executives, professors, and authors - and this year we've landed another TJ alumni superstar - Mike Elias '01, the President of Baseball Operations for Major League Baseball's Baltimore Orioles! Having executed one of professional sports' most stunning turnarounds after being hired before the 2019 season, Mike was named MLB's Executive of the Year in 2023 when the Orioles won the American League East Division and had the second-best record in the majors.
